Categories Management
Organize your platform with a three-level category system: Categories, Sub Categories, and Child Categories.
Location: Dashboard → Categories / Sub Categories / Child Categories
Category Structure
Deeplancer uses a hierarchical category system:
- Categories - Main categories (Level 1)
- Sub Categories - Sub-categories under main categories (Level 2)
- Child Categories - Sub-categories under sub-categories (Level 3)
Example:
- Category: Design
- Sub Category: Graphic Design
- Child Category: Logo Design
- Child Category: Brand Identity
Creating Categories
Create main categories that appear on your platform.
- Go to Dashboard → Categories
- Click "Create Category"
- Fill in the form:
- Title - Category name (e.g., "Design", "Programming")
- Description - Category description (optional)
- Icon - Select an icon from the icon picker
- Show in Home Page - Toggle to display on homepage
- Show Gigs in Home Page - Display gigs from this category on homepage
- Click "Save"
The category is created and appears in the categories list.
Creating Sub Categories
Create sub-categories under main categories.
- Go to Dashboard → Sub Categories
- Click "Create Sub Category"
- Fill in the form:
- Category - Select parent category
- Title - Sub-category name
- Description - Sub-category description (optional)
- Show in Home Page - Toggle to display on homepage
- Click "Save"
Sub-categories are linked to their parent category and appear when users browse that category.
Creating Child Categories
Create child categories under sub-categories for detailed organization.
- Go to Dashboard → Child Categories
- Click "Create Child Category"
- Fill in the form:
- Sub Category - Select parent sub-category
- Title - Child category name
- Description - Child category description (optional)
- Show in Home Page - Toggle to display on homepage
- Click "Save"
Child categories provide the most specific organization level.
Editing Categories
Edit any category, sub-category, or child category.
- Go to the respective category list (Categories, Sub Categories, or Child Categories)
- Find the category you want to edit
- Click "Edit" button
- Modify the fields
- Click "Save"
Changes apply immediately and affect how categories appear on your platform.
Deleting Categories
Delete categories you no longer need.
- Go to the category list
- Find the category to delete
- Click "Delete" button
- Confirm deletion
Deleting a category also deletes all its sub-categories and child categories. This action cannot be undone.
Category Ordering
Categories are ordered by the Order field. Lower numbers appear first.
To reorder categories:
- Edit the category
- Change the Order value (lower = appears first)
- Save changes
Categories with the same order value are sorted alphabetically by title.
Category Icons
Categories can have icons that appear in category listings and navigation.
- When creating or editing a category
- Click the Icon field
- Icon picker opens
- Search or browse available icons
- Click an icon to select it
Icons help users quickly identify categories visually.
Category Images
Categories can have images for better visual presentation.
Uploading category image:
- Edit the category
- Find Image upload field
- Click "Choose File"
- Select image (max 2MB)
- Image uploads automatically
- Save changes
Hero Image:
- Upload hero image for category page
- Recommended size: 1400x200px
- Appears at top of category page
